CAPTURE INCREDIBLE BEAUTY IN THE GARDENS
Longwood Gardens is a crown jewel and must-experience place based in the Brandywine Valley of the greater Philadelphia area. With almost 200 acres of lush, formal gardens, open meadows and winding paths, there are simply mesmerizing views at every turn. From the intricate and beautiful fountains and impeccable designs in color, lines and form, you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of the grand and intimate vistas.
Not only will you be filled to overflowing with inspiration throughout the grounds, but you will be awestruck with wonder by the visual displays within the 4.5 acre conservatory filled with glorious light, flowers, fountains & water features and so much more. You’ll see some of the most beautiful plants and flowers from around the globe, ever-changing with the seasons.
There’s no way that one day in Longwood Gardens would ever be enough. From the moment you step into the gardens, your jaw will drop in amazement and wonder. There’s so much to see, photograph and immerse yourself in that your challenge is not only where to start but when to stop and move onto the next sphere of splendor. That’s why we will spend three full days of this workshop visiting and re-visiting Longwood. You’ll need them to catch your breath and settle your spirit to photograph what draws you in.
DIG INTO THE GARDENS & LET THE SEEDS OF YOUR IMAGINATION GROW
This workshop is designed for photographers of all levels. You’ll have the opportunity to work your lenses from wide angle to macro and telephoto, depending on where your creative vision takes you. Jamie and Cheryl will work with you in the field and share techniques to help you reach your objectives with images that you see. Among the things you will learn or improve are using selective focus for ethereal flowers, creating painterly looks with slow exposures, intentional camera movement and multiple exposures. If you’re a Lensbaby user, the gardens offer a plethora of perfect subjects and scenes to create magical images. If you shoot in infrared, this is a perfect location for creating wonderful images in the invisible light.
Just finding a spot in the gardens to take it all in would be enough for anyone, with or without a camera. And you might find yourself wanting to rest and bathe in its beauty. We wouldn’t be surprised and won’t stop you if you’re in need of that contemplative experience. There are plenty of spots for you to sit a spell … Rain or shine, Longwood reigns. If you love flowers and gardens, you’ll have a glimpse of flower heaven here.
Whether you enjoy the grand vistas or intimate landscapes or the magic of the macro world, this workshop offers it all. In addition to photographing the gardens and creating beautiful imagery, we will have classroom time to learn how to transform your images even furt
