Lower Cape Fear Photography Workshop

What could be better than a weekend of photography based in the quaint southern town of Southport? We're in perfect position to venture to Bald Head Island and Old Baldy, live oaks, salt marshes, seascapes and tidal creeks, a place where getting around includes two feet, bicycles and golf carts only. Change direction inland, and we enter the magical world of the Green Swamp Preserve with its longleaf pine savanna, magnificent orchids and carnivorous plants. Beyond that, there’s Oak Island and other unique locations on deck. Join me and Mark Hilliard as we explore amazing places poised for capturing images in color, infrared, and even long exposures.

Georgia Grilles & Mills Photo Workshop

If you love the nostalgia of historical grist mills, covered bridges and crunch of old cars, trucks, busses, you'll want to join me and Mark Hilliard for this workshop. We'll spend an entire day at Old Car City USA and visit at least four uniquely photogenic grist mills in the area. We have private access to one mill and many other treasures on the property. These locations are excellent for HDR, infrared and color. "Wabi Sabi" is reflected perfectly in these places. (Note: Registration does include OCC admission.)

Crystal Coast Winter Photography Workshop

Eastern Shore Spring Photo Workshop

April 25-28, 2019, Chincoteague, VA

The Eastern Shore of Virginia and Delmarva Peninsula is a photographer’s paradise, with many photogenic surprises tucked in the nooks and crannies of small, coastal villages throughout the area. Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is located between the Chincoteague Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and is a wonderful place to photograph landscapes, scenics, waterfowl, wading birds, and other wildlife such as the Sika deer. Marsh scenes are diverse and filled with wading birds, watermen and beautiful light. During this workshop, we will explore Chincoteague and Assateague areas for the best light and subjects each day from sunrise until after sunset. We visit small coastal fishing villages that hark back to slower times filled with cultural history. One visit to this region will have you wanting to return for more of this special place. A perfect place to explore in color and infrared with Jamie and Mark – come join us!

This retreat-style workshop is for those who are tired of rushing to capture moments but feel like something is missing in your work or your approach to finding subjects and expressing your vision. The workshop is focused on helping you let go of “should” and embrace “what if” through a series of creative exercises and assignments. This is your time to slow down, focus, be present, attentive and intentional so you can expand and express your unique vision freely. Based on a 20-acre retreat in Hendersonville, this workshop is ideal for stretching creative boundaries. Limited to six people, this workshop allows you time to release creative seeds and grow as a photographer and visual artist.
