DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF LONG EXPOSURES & HDR ON THE OUTER BANKS

It’s tough to beat the refreshing feeling of being on the Outer Banks in the fall. The air is crisp, the light is magical, and the summer traffic is looooong gone. It’s a wonderful time to join us for a long weekend filled with photography locations that are rich with possibility and opportunities to learn new techniques for shooting and processing. (If the weather cooperates, we can add some night photography into the mix.)

During this weekend, we focus on long exposures and ways to strengthen your composition skills. This intermediate level workshop includes plenty of in-the-field instruction, plus classroom sessions with Jamie and Nicole. (If you’re new to long exposure photography, this is a great way to learn with hands-on assistance!)

Whether you love the landscapes and scenic, shorelines and shells, birds, lighthouses or boats, or finding gems along the ocean, you’ll get all of these and more. Prepare to build your skills among bountiful photo opportunities, learn and share with others, and make a few friends along the way. Listen. The ocean is calling, and you must go.

Whether you’ve never been to the Outer Banks or have visited the area dozens of times, a weekend of ocean breezes, sunrises and sunsets with lots of exploration in between cannot be beat.

Jamie and Nicole share their knowledge of subjects, photographic skills and techniques for long exposure, landscape and creative photography that push you to get it right in the field and go beyond ordinary to express your unique vision.

STRETCHING TIME ON THE OUTER BANKS IS EASY AND GOOD FOR THE SOUL!

One thing is certain, there is always something new to discover and photograph in this area. Imagine walking a trail of live oaks that transports you to a world of wonder around each bend. Imagine the magic of marshes in winter tones. We’ll visit old and new favorite locations up and down the OBX coastline and send you home with skills and confidence to work long exposures into your landscapes.

While visiting some of the area’s well-known locations – a lighthouse or two, Jockey’s Ridge, Manteo, favorite piers, cool fishing village & more – we will focus our field instruction on helping you capture long exposure images that create emotional impact. Learn how to effectively shoot for HDR images (and when and why) and focus on building strong compositions in camera.

This workshop will help you make your equipment work for you and provide instruction on how to process your images for the desired effect with Photoshop, Lightroom and Nik software. The entire weekend is designed to provide a well-balanced combination of classroom and field work. *

Classroom sessions will include post-processing, image sharing and critiques. Join us at one of North Carolina’s best beaches. You won’t be disappointed!
