July 12, 2008 Sarah
P. Duke Gardens, Durham, NC
These gardens are among my very favorite to visit and photograph. There's
always something happening here--rose gardens, terraced gardens overlooking a
pond with water lilies and koi, an asiatic garden area and large garden
devoted to native plants. We will spend the entire day exploring and
photographing in these gardens--not nearly enough time to absorb the beauty
and wonder of this special place. You'll leave wanting to carve out time to
come back... even if you never take a single picture.
August 16, 2008
Shackelford Banks & Beaufort, NC
On the morning of this workshop we will ferry over to the western end of
Shackelford Banks (separate fee) and have the opportunity to photograph a wide
variety of shells, wild Spanish mustangs, shorelines and other seaside
treasures. The afternoon will be spent visiting different locations in
Beaufort, including the waterfront and other historical areas.
September 13, 2008
Hinnant Family Vineyards (Pine Level) & Howell Woods Environmental
Learning Center (Four Oaks), NC
We will be visiting the vineyards at a peak time for photographing the grapes
on the vine in early morning light as well as harvesting activities in this
rural country crossroads area. After lunch we will turn our attention to the
trails at Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center in Four Oaks which
meander through diverse habitats and natural communities. Time and energy
permitting, the Bentonville Battlegrounds provide a chance to visit the scene
of the last major Confederate Offensive of the Civil War.
October 25, 2008
Natural Wonders of Columbia & Tyrrell County, NC
Nestled along the Scuppernong River in Tyrrell County, Columbia is a quaint
town on the edge of nature. We will begin the day photographing on the
Scuppernong River Interpretive Boardwalk and along the waterfront in Columbia.
After lunch, we will explore several other local areas that will provide
opportunities to enjoy and appreciate the diversity of Tyrrell County's
wildlife and nature.
