September 11, 2010 --
Sarah P. Duke Gardens, Durham, NC

As
we leave summer behind, cooler weather awaits, and the gardens change. Come
spend the day photographing this magnificent botanical treasure--featuring
terraced gardens filled with varieties of seasonal plants and flowers
overlooking a pond with water lilies and koi; an Asiatic garden area, along with
the Blomquist Garden of Native Plants. We will spend the entire day exploring
and photographing in these gardens - not nearly enough time to absorb the beauty
and wonder of this special place. This is truly a place you'll want to visit
again and again.

Island Creek Trail, New Bern, NC

Tucked
away in a little-travelled area of the Croatan National Forest is this gem full
of trails that meander up and down, tracking along the creek and around and
through a hardwood forest that has some of the largest hardwoods you'll find in
Eastern North Carolina. It is particularly beautiful in the fall as you get to
see the changing colors. There are four loop trails that provide more than a
day's worth of unique and interesting photo ops. We can opt to pack a picnic
lunch or venture back across the river to visit a local New Bern restaurant. Up
for a new adventure, come join us!
