February -
Due to my participation at two major
photography conferences this month (CNPA Annual Meeting (www.cnpa.org)
and NANPA's Nature Photography Summit (www.nanpa.org)),
we will resume in March. Check out these two awesome resources for nature
photographers!
March 13, 2010 --
The Barns of Cameron, Cameron, NC
The
painted barns outside of Cameron, NC, are probably among my favorite subjects to
photograph. In part, because the barns are part of the rural culture of the
South, but also because every side of every barn and building is painted with a
different design. And, because like many of the barns in North Carolina, there
will come a time when they no longer exist. The barns of Cameron are on my
schedule every year for just this reason. Come join me in capturing and
preserving a piece of the past, and practice a wide range of photography in the
process.
April 10, 2010 --
Elizabethan Gardens, Manteo, NC

If
you have never visited the
Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo, you're in for an amazing treat! The garden is
covered with trails that lead in an out of natural and formal garden settings
and offers a mecca of opportunity for garden and flower photography. You can
capture landscapes and intimate macro moments in every corner of this
beautifully designed garden. With an area this size, it's easy to find that
you've only scratched the surface - even if you spend an entire day there. Learn
how to see and control the light and come home with images that excite and
inspire you.
May 15, 2010 --
Weyerhaeuser's Cool Springs Environmental Learning
Center, near Askins, NC
This
unique property is located adjacent to the Swift Creek and Neuse River and has
about three miles of trails that traverse through a pine plantation, mixed pine
and hardwoods, cypress/gum swamp, riverine, and pocosin-like ecosystems. There
is much to explore and photograph, and we will be there with special permission.
We will take our lunch break on the property. You won't want to miss this
opportunity!
NEW LIFE PHOTOS WEEKEND WORKSHOPS
Spring Gardens Photography
Workshop in Richmond,
VA
April 29 - May 2, 2010
What
better way to "dig in" to Spring than with a weekend full of photography in the
amazing gardens of Richmond, Virginia? During daylight hours, we will be
shooting at three incredible locations: Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, Agecroft
Hall & Gardens, and Maymont Park & Gardens.
Jamie Konarski Davidson
will share her knowledge and passion for nature photography to help you "notice"
and capture visual treasures in the gardens. In the evenings there will be
classroom sessions that focus on garden, flower & macro photography as well as
image processing techniques and workflow using Lightroom and Photoshop.
Chris Barnes, workshop
co-instructor, photographer & Adobe Certified instructor will lead you through
what to do after you've captured images. We'll have plenty of hands-on
instruction in the field so you can learn and fine tune shooting techniques.
We'll also have time for image sharing and critiques. We've reserved an
incredible deal with Baymont Inn & Suites (home base for the workshop) for just
$39.99/night (single or double). Click here to
download the workshop brochure for more details and to register! For more
information, call or email Jamie at 252.327.4567 or jamie@newlifephotos.com.
